Book Fest 2018
Book Fest is a free annual event that offers book-centered fun to community families. The Family Reading Partnership organizes the event and partners with individuals, organizations, and businesses throughout the area to bring parents and children together around the excitement of children's books.
Visitors were invited to select a free brand new book about space, and those who completed a Book Fest passport were eligible to enter into our raffle for an Orion Telescope and other out of this world prizes!
Star Lab
Visitors had the opportunity to learn about stars and constellations from the staff of Corning Community College's Eileen Collins Observatory. Star Lab is a portable planetarium that brings the universe (and all it has to offer) indoors!
Reader's Theater
Elmira College presented a play and reader's theater for visitors of all ages to enjoy.
Author Matt Chandler meets with one of our volunteers.
Additional Activities
Visit the CCLD Bookmobile, Tanglewood Nature Center, and The Bright Red Bookshelf. Build a book as well as your very own space alien puppet! Therapy Dogs International will make their yearly appearance, and there will also be crafts and activities with local community organizations, stories with costumed characters, and more!
Authors
Meet and greet with authors Matt Chandler and Kevin Coolidge. Both of these guys love to talk about reading and writing, and they had their books available for purchase at Book Fest!
