Our Mission

Family Reading Partnership of Chemung Valley provides books and literacy outreach programs to children and their families. We commit ourselves to fostering a community in which all people experience the joy of reading as part of everyday life. Our programs bring reading into the lives of children and families from infancy through school years. Join our quest to build a community of life-long learners.

Read With Children Volunteers Needed!
Family Reading Partnership asking for reading volunteers

"The soul is healed by being with children,” said Fyodor Dostoevsky.

So, heal your soul and delight small kids by volunteering in the Traveling Books program of the Family Reading Partnership of Chemung Valley.

Do you like reading with children ? Can you spare 1 1/2 hours per month? Can you tolerate being welcomed like a rock star? Yes? Yes? Yes? Then volunteer each month to visit Chemung County Child Care Council sponsored daycare centers and homes to read with the children and to leave a big bag of books for them to enjoy 'til next month's visit.
